I entered the ocean at sunrise
I sank to the bottom where the sand lies
motionless as the currents flowed by
the sun shined off of the shells under me
the aquatic life swam to places I wanted to be
my adored floated amongst the clouds above
yet I sank below them chasing my love
only seaweed where I lay
wrapping my legs in ebbs and sways
darkness covered the depths I tried to search
and I was trapped in the empty, endless murk
once I realized all the beauty had left my face
I fought against an ugly fate
and wrestled the green growth to leave that place
I heard in the distance my most cherished melodies
that stretched their beats to comfort me
I reached inside my soul to find
the peace I had left behind
as age led to a merger of societal ways
blind faith pilled me to the places where I couldn't stay
angels soared down through the sea
they lifted my spirit without ever touching me
I rose and I looked below
at the dead and pathetic that remained in the undergrowth
I watched the fish that surrounded me now
so many colors streaking their sides
so much beauty bringing tears to my eyes
at the surface I floated amongst the lilies and the waves
the sun set slowly
the sky glowed with stars
I questioned why people ignore the beauty that is ours
the shore came closer
the sand was warm
I felt emotions that were out of norm
once I emerged
naked and free
I knew I had finally learned to love me
I knew there was much more to learn and see...
and much less to fear
